Vehicle Interior Air Quality (VIAQ) Analysis using SIFT-MS

This webinar outlines the benefits that make SIFT-MS the ideal tool for product emission testing applications, from component screening through to complete vehicle interior air quality testing on the production line. Case studies will be used to illustrate how SIFT-MS has been applied to a range of emissions testing applications. Throughputs in excess of 30 samples per hour are readily achieved.

Regulators and consumers demand increasingly lower levels of harmful volatile emissions in motor vehicle passenger cabins. This is pushing manufacturers toward more comprehensive testing, from components through to finished vehicles, to ensure conformance and avoid costly tear-out. However, conventional analytical technologies are expensive, complex and slow, since they are based on chromatographic methods.

SIFT-MS is an innovative, industry-proven analytical technique that directly and instantly analyzes air down to part-per-trillion (pptV) concentrations, providing rapid component screening and immediate process feedback. By applying eight rapidly switchable chemical ionization agents, SIFT-MS selectively and quantitatively analyzes the complete range of:

  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs; e.g. formaldehyde, acrolein, benzene, styrene and dichlorobenzene)
  • Inorganic gases (e.g. ammonia, hydrogen chloride and hydrogen sulfide)
  • Organometallic compounds (e.g. tributyltin)
